Dr. Jörg Vollmer, Ph.D., Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Jörg Vollmer joined Nexigen in October 2011 as CEO. He has more than fifteen years of experience in scientific research, and holds a diploma and doctorate in Immunobiology from the Max-Planck-Institute for Immunology in Freiburg. Dr. Jörg Vollmer started his career in 1999 at Coley Pharmaceutical GmbH, a Biotech company developing Nucleic Acid-based therapeutics located in Düsseldorf. Working for Coley until 2008, latest in the position as Vice President Discovery & Development, he was responsible for identification and evaluation of potential product candidates, new research and application areas, as well as international discovery projects. Between 2008 and 2011 Coley Pharmaceutical did belong to Pfizer’s Global Research and Dr. Jörg Vollmer was in his role as Managing Director responsible for the Düsseldorf subsidiary. He is also Member of the Board of the biotechnology cooperation BioRiver e.V. in North Rhine-Westphalia.
Dr. Hanjo Hennemann, Ph.D., Chief Scientific Officer and Co-founder

Dr Hanjo Hennemann is a founding member of Nexigen GmbH and has served as managing director and head of research since the foundation of Nexigen. He is the driving force behind the development of Nexigen’s drug discovery technology. Previously he was principal investigator at the research center caesar, Bonn, where he established the basis for the technology and the foundation of Nexigen. Before that he had postdoctoral appointments at the University of Essen and the University of California, San Diego. He was awarded an Alexander-von-Humboldt Fellowship for the post-doctoral work in the group of Prof Michael Karin (University of California, San Diego) in signal transduction and growth control. Dr Hennemann earned a diploma and doctorate in molecular genetics from the University of Bonn.
