Projects

Nexigen develops innovative drugs for indications with unmet medical need. The company focuses on disease mechanisms, which are inaccessible by common drug classes, like small molecules or antibodies. This gap, which covers about 75-80% of all disease relevant proteins, can be closed by cytoplasmic peptide drugs and approaches involving siRNA. Nexigen developed a powerful drug discovery engine for the reliable identification of peptidic modulators.
Nexigen is focusing its drug development on the discovery phase up to the initiation of clinical phase 1. The company is pursuing drug development programs in the following indications.

Anti-infectives

Nexigen develops drugs with a significantly elongated resistance free period. The occurance of resistance is a major problem in anti-viral therapy. The company pursues antiviral projects in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and human hepatits C virus (HCV) indications.

Oncology

Cancer is a life threatening disease, which mostly results from changes in the human genetic material. Nexigen focuses on aberrantly activated disease pathways, for which currently no treatment alternatives exist. For this purpose Nexigen aims at target proteins in oncology pathways, which are not addressable by common small molecule or antibody drugs.
